Planning out costs
Airfare - to Dublin - Delta between $1200 and $1500 - you can probably get lower on other airlines but we want Delta miles. Looks like at this time on Expedia about $800 is the minimum. It also may be possible to fly to Kerry Airport if you choose but not on Delta, it seems.
B&Bs - Was trying to keep them to under $100/night for 2 people but a couple are more like $150 for two - most charge from $10-30 more per extra person (but some only do so after 4 people) - so the maybe worst case costs with say six people would be about $40-50 per person per night. While they are called B AND B, these mostly do not include breakfast....
Meals - if we manage to do all B&Bs, we'll have kitchens and plan to do our own breakfast most of the time and some lunches, possibly some dinners. But part of the experience is local restaurants (and pubs) so a few nice dinners, a few fish and chips, I imagine. My thought is meals will not be as expensive as some trips.
Tickets for tours or rentals of bikes - they vary by what they are but probably we will be doing two or three tours of say 50-70 Euro (55-80 USD).
Car Rental - haven't decided whether to include some trains (which I love) or just using a car for everything. If you come on your own, you can take a train to where we are, or rent your own car. But let's say car. In fact, let's say 7 person-van - about $550/week (or $11/day/person for 7 people or $16/day/person for 5 people). With luggage this may or may not fit 7 people....
So, quick guess on a one week's trip - per person
airfare $1200 (800-1400)
B&B - 300
car 100
meals 300+
tickets 100+
$2000++
So, for tickets, airfare, and lodging for 8 days it came to $1850.
